Redding Airshow

Well, there is not much for me to say. I hope the pictures speak for themselves.
This is the first show of Canadian Snowbirds for year 2002.

So, As you all know, Snowbirds fly 9 Tutor Jets.
OK, lets count them... One, Two, Three ... Nine, Ten ??
Well, number 10 is a spare aircraft.
This photo taken during the practice on Friday with number 10 flying with the formation. Could this be a photo session?

Snowbirds breaks away.

Right and Left wing aircraft goes inverted - the flipped formation of Blue Angels' "Double Farvel"

reddin10_l.JPG

Inverted wedge formation goes into a loop.
High mountain to the left is Lassen Peak (3187m/10456ftj which last erupted in 1915.
I climbed to the top in Sept. 1998 but the top was in the clould, just like this photo, and I could not enjoy the view.

reddin11_l.JPG

You can see the twinkling lights of the Snowbirds as they head towards me after the loop.

reddin12_l.JPG

Only the Snowbirds can do this in North America - 9 aircraft in line abreast.

reddin13_l.JPG

Snowbirds make right turn for the final pass before landing.

reddin14_l.JPG

A shot taken few seconds after the photo above. Big Arrow formation with 9 aircraft.

reddin15_l.JPG

Now the Snowbirds approach in 3 x 3 formation for landing.
I really want to thank the boss for using Runway 12 to land - otherwise a photo like this wouldn't have been possible.
