Misawa is now home to F-2 (an F-16 based ground attack aircraft) as well as E-2C and USAF F-16 (and a small number of domestic JAS Japan Air System airliner flight)
Misawa AFB and Misawa JASDF shares runway with domestic airlines.

In 1994, USAF thunderbirds performed a show in Misawa.
Thunderbirds were expected to re-appear in Misawa during Oct of 2001 as a part of Pacific tour but it has been canceled.
